Diptych - Peas

While my parents are my main providers of garden-fresh string beans during the summer season, unfortunately I have to buy peas at the market.

I love sitting on the balcony in the evening, (non-alcoholic) drink close by, and shelling peas. It’s just so relaxing. I can concentrate completely on the task, discarding the shells and letting the peas fall into a bowl, mind empty of anything else. I’m always tempted to buy a huge amount of peas just so I can relax for a while longer.

Sometimes, like last week, I don’t even have plans what to make from the peas; I decided to make pea soup – even though we had over 30°C – so my shelling efforts wouldn’t go to waste.
